A Lifetime of Countryside Cottages
What happens when the annual vacation just isn’t enough? I was faced with this problem some years ago when I realised that I could no longer face the daily grind and battle the hustle and bustle of the city rat race. After vacationing at a whole host of countryside cottages, I came to discover that I had to give credit where credit was due – and come to terms with the fact that I’m much better suited to a country life!
This is the dilemma that many city-based professionals encounter in their lives, yet only a select few are able to make the “sea change” from life in the big smoke to the pristine, fresh air of the countryside. Yet for me, missing the city wasn’t an aspect of my decision, it was how to get the funds for such a move that was really my only hurdle.
Renting property in the city hadn’t left much for me in terms of savings and my financial situation wasn’t all that rosy when I decided to make the move. I have been in debt previously, but thanks to some timely debt advice, I’d been able to
reduce debts that I had outstanding to a trifling figure. The problem was: how was I going to make the transformation from a rental tenant to a home owner? Not only was this a sign of growing up – and growing old – it was also something that I realised couldn’t just be thrown onto my Visa or MasterCard to be temporarily forgotten and thought about more thoroughly at a later date!
That’s when I started looking at homeowner loans and the possibility of not only purchasing a country cottage, but also having some money leftover on the side to make some necessary home improvements. Luckily, I was able to find the perfect homeowner loan and a quaint countryside cottage that was rustic enough to be charming, but not too much so to be in a state of dilapidation and now I’m sitting pretty – as a property owner!
